Our Community Hub provides a safe and accessible space to run a range of activities including weekly and monthly peer support groups including groups for Carers and those with physical disabilities and health conditions such as Fibromyalgia.

Funding will provide ‘Grey Matters’ sessions for those aged over 60 to attend therapeutic  workshops such as art for wellbeing, and activity sessions including seated yoga, self-defence and Thai Chi. Information sessions will include fire Safety, everyday living aids, healthy eating on a budget,  scams, wills and probate, IT and welfare benefits.

Older people are especially vulnerable when it comes to social isolation, which can have a large effect on their physical and mental health. A social space provides refreshments served in a warm, socially interactive environment.  Service users will also be introduced to wider support including disability advice, equipment to help with mobility and daily living, and money management support.

Tracy Plunkett, manager of the advice services at The Disability Resource Centre said "These peer support groups provide a positive impact on social, physical, mental and financial wellbeing for a range of our service users. This funding will be a great help in keeping these groups running, so I would like to say a huge Thank you to persimmon Homes."
