Marathon Relay at Houghton Hall Park Donate Friday 26th April 2019 Houghton Hall Park, Houghton Regis/Dunstable In support of our London Marathon runner and fundraiser Lorna Bailey, The Disability Resource Centre is holding their very own marathon relay. 26 laps of Houghton Hall Park. Our CEO Melanie Hawman will be starting the first lap. Mel says "Whatever our different abilities, when we support each other we can achieve great things." We have 19 brave people (staff and friends) who will either be walking, running or completing their 1 mile lap by wheels (bikes, wheelchairs, powerchairs). Most fundraisers will complete one lap (about 1 mile) by running, jogging, walking or by wheels. Mayors of Houghton Regis and Dunstable will officially start our marathon relay at 10am on Friday 26th April 2019. We'd like to raise money to expand our community outreach service to provide our free services closer to your home. Our CEO, Melanie Hawman says "Whatever our different abilities when we come together, like our marathon relay team, we can achieve great things". She adds "With extra funds we can reach more isolated disabled and older people in Bedfordshire, so that many more people can access our free advice and support services". Visiting venues in outlying areas makes it easier for more people to receive our valuable and life-changing advice and information. You can find us at your local library every month when we are available to answer all your questions about benefits, money advice, job hunting, disability equipment, blue badges and more. But Bedfordshire is a large county and we need to get to more local events and venues so we are closer to where you live. Donating today will help us raise enough funds to expand our visits to community events, so you'll be able to get our help without having to travel too far. Thanks very much for your support. :-) Lorna has raised over £1800 already (by 12th March 2019, including Gift Aid) and is hoping to break her £2500 target. Lorna is training to prepare for the full 26 mile London Marathon.
