This service provides up-to-date information and advice to people of any age and with any disability, older people, their families, carers, friends and associated professionals throughout Bedfordshire and Luton.

The Service is a member of the national network organisations DIAL UK and Advice UK.

Information is available on a variety of topics including:

  • Education
  • Employment
  • Grants
  • Holidays
  • Sport and Leisure
  • Support Groups

The Service is open to everyone- there is no formal referral process and it is FREE. People can access the service in several ways:

  • By Email

Information is also available in other formats, on request.

The Service is open Monday-Friday 10am-4pm

Information Resources

The Information Service uses and produces a wide range of resources.

We use:

  • A comprehensive database, DissBASE with thousands of national and local entries of disability organisations and topics.
  • The national data is updated every few months.
  • Local data is updated continuously.
  • We also use a range of printed reference material and online resources.

We produce:

An Information Handbook giving details of the services provided at the Disability resource Centre and the range of topics covered.

We answer thousands of enquiries every year. Typical enquiries include:

  • Accessible holiday accommodation
  • insurance for a person with an existing medical condition
  • Sporting facilities for disabled people
  • Dentist who will make home visits
  • Where to get a blue badge
  • Local walks suitable for a wheelchair
  • Accessible pubs
